SFDG, in association with the Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology, has been named a finalist in the 8th Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area–ASEAN International Colleges Design & Construction Competition, an initiative aligned with the Belt and Road Initiative promoting collaborative and sustainable design across the region. Responding to the challenge of using over 90% bamboo, the proposal, Whisper of the Sky, explores structural lightness inspired by a bird resting gently on one leg. Composed of slender bamboo elements and tensile cables, the pavilion expresses balance between compression and tension, reflecting SFDG’s approach to innovative, environmentally responsive design and meaningful regional collaboration.
